Interested in getting into collecting art, but not sure where to start? As only burgeoning collectors ourselves we can hardly claim to be experts, but we do know that the first step is to figure out what you like, which requires that you look at a lot of art. There are several events happening here in LA (and near LA) over the next few weeks that would certainly provide a visitor the opportunity to look look look (and buy should you feel so inclined).
Santa Monica Museum’s PRECOGNITO and INCOGNITO 10
To celebrate their 10th anniversary the Santa Monica Museum will host their signature benefit art sale. Featuring work by over 550 well-known and emerging artists both events are wonderful places to look at lots of art.
PRECOGNITO, Wednesday, April 23, 7 to 10 pm
INCOGNITO 10, Saturday, April 26, 7 pm to 10 pm
Head over to the museum website to get tickets to either event!
ARTIST CURATED PROJECT – Flat File Sale

Run by artist Eve Fowler out of her Hollywood home you’ll have to make an appointment to see the work, but it’s well worth the special trip and effort.

PARIS PHOTO LOS ANGELES
Paris Photo Los Angeles is the US version of the well-known Paris-based photography fair. The event will take place at Paramount Pictures Studios April 25th-27th and is a wonderful way to explore the diverse medium of photography.
Thursday April 10 – Sunday April 13
San Jose McEnery Convention Center, 150 West San Carlos Street, San Jose, CA 95113
We’re aware this last one isn’t actually in LA, but as the first-ever art fair to take place in Silicon Valley we have high hopes/ expectations for this event. And with a rather impressive exhibitor list and a goal to be the “next generation art fair,” we feel confident it will be worth the visit.
